Candelilla wax is obtained by transforming the leaves, so it is a vegan wax replacing beeswax. It is mainly found in the composition of candles and lip balms.

Note: If used to replace beeswax in a recipe, use half the amount of beeswax requested. Replace the other half by shea butter or cocoa butter. Candelilla wax is harder than beeswax.


Makes 5 aluminum jars of 15ml or 10 tubes of 7ml

  • 9.6g (12%) Candelilla wax or sunflower wax
  • 26g (32.25%) Cocoa butter
  • 16.8g (21%) Shea butter
  • 26g (32.5%) Vegetable oil of your choice (sunflower, olive, jojoba …)
  • 1.8g (2.25%) Essential oil of your choice


  • Scale accurate to 0.1g of preferences (or 1g)
  • bain-marie
  • spatula to mix and scrape the bottom of the bain-marie.

Manual :

  1. First melt the solid ingredients (waxes and butters)
  2. Then add the vegetable oils
  3. Mix well and let melt.
  4. Add the essential oils and mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into your containers.

Tip: Add sugar to it for an exfoliant! (at the end at the same time as the essential oils)
