"Laurus nobilis, the noble Laurel, this very ancient tree once common in the forests of the Mediterranean, appears in human history in the tales of Apollo and the oracle priestesses of Delphi in Greek and Roman mythology.
Later, it would be associated with poetry and education; "baccalaureate" in Latin means "laurel berries."
It was during the conquests of Alexander the Great that the crown-shaped leaves became a symbol of excellence and victory, both intellectual and military.
We are more familiar with the use of leaves in cooking for their aroma, where they are added to bouquet garni or simply infused into the sauce of a dish during cooking.
The leaves can be infused as an herbal tea with a little honey. In the deserts of Arabia, Bedouins use it to flavor coffee.
